For first project, we are able to experiencing and understanding skeletal construction is important as it is one of the most widely used structures for building support. As a designer we should know how skeletal structure works. Skeletal structure provides the 
load bearing resistance of the structure and supports the secondary elements. 

 

Project 1: Understanding Forces in Skeletal Structure

After few load testing and discussion with group members, we fix the problem and improvement to get the final design of tower. We design more bracing at the surface and also adding brace '+' in the structure to make it more rigid and stable.

Project 2: Understanding Forces in Solid Structure and Surface Structure

Our chosen building for solid construction is the Notre dame de paris which is an ancient gothic church.

After this project, I understand more about how the soild structure reacts under loading and how it show in diagrams. Besides, I also learnt to analyse the structure in terms of strength, stiffness and stability of structures including modes of structural systems, forces, stress and strain and laws of static. 

 

Conclusion throughout this semester, i learn to identify the basic structural systems in construction and compare solid, skeletal and surface construction. From project 2, we learn about the solid structure by making model. All the members are enjoying at the moment of build up the model. The important part was that we spent days and nights together to complete the model and we also learn from each others .
